My Role - Graphic Designer and Event Assistant
Tools Used - Canva
Timeline - Three Months
The Story - Every year the American Legion Post 111 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 111 host a free, open to the public Easter Egg Hunt for the children of Lincoln County, WV, where they give away prizes, bicycles, and candy.
The Problem - Lincoln County, WV is an impoverished area, with 24.9% of it's population living below the poverty line. A lot of families cannot afford to celebrate Easter with an Egg Hunt or with gifts.
The Outcome - We had over 5,000 eggs donated, filled with candy, and "hidden" for kids to find. It rained the day of, but we still have a turn out of over 200 people with their children.
This is one hour before go-time.
Comments - For this project, I assisted the President of the Auxiliary with her event plans. She puts this event on every year. She needed my help soliciting funds and donations from the public and businesses. I taught her how to approach businesses as a non-profit for corporate sponsorship. I set up the Facebook event page for her, as well as made the media graphics for Facebook.
This project was done on a volunteer basis.
